A Journey of Hope for Siblings Hamza and Umera
From the village of sadhauli, Saharanpur district. A nuclear family lives where the mother and father are blessed with two children. The elder child is Umera, she is 4.6years old and the younger sibling is a girl who is just 4month old
In Sadhauli village, Saharanpur district, two siblings—Hamza, just 4 months old, and Umera, 4.6 years old—have faced an unimaginable challenge: congenital heart disease (CHD). Their family, supported solely by their father, a hardworking carpenter, has been grappling with both emotional and financial strain.
Hamza’s journey began when during an health camp , the doctor detected a murmur in his tiny heart when he was just 2 months old. Subsequent tests confirmed a Large Peri membranous Ventricular Septal Defect (PM VSD). His elder sister, Umera, had also been diagnosed with CHD two years earlier, following an echo screening at a private hospital. Although her condition initially seemed manageable, later during a health camp organized by UPRBSK confirmed that both siblings required urgent surgery.
The family was devastated, as the cost for both surgeries was far beyond their means. But hope arrived in the form of Child Heart Foundation, which, supported by UPRBSK, stepped in to offer free echo screenings and financial assistance under the Hridaan program.
Umera underwent her life-saving surgery on July 3, 2024, and was discharged on July 7. Hamza followed closely, with his successful surgery on July 6, 2024, and discharged on July 12. Both children are showing improvement each time and are also getting proper follow- up.
The family’s relief and gratitude to Child Heart Foundation, Dr. Kohli, and the generous donors who made these surgeries possible are immeasurable. The successful treatments have not only restored the health of Hamza and Umera but also renewed the family’s hope and resilience. Their story is a testament to the power of compassion and collective support in transforming lives.
