Meet Abuzar, a brave 7-year-old boy from a small village in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. For the first few years of his life, Abuzar occasionally experienced chest pains, which his family attributed to normal childhood ailments. However, at the age of 4, he suffered severe chest pain that prompted a visit to the local doctor, who suspected congenital heart disease (CHD).
After further examinations at a government hospital, an echo screening confirmed the devastating diagnosis: Abuzar had a serious heart condition. Desperate for help, his family sought treatment at Satya Sai Hospital in Palwal, but the COVID-19 lockdown caused multiple delays in his much-needed surgery, leaving them feeling hopeless.
Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, a ray of light appeared in the form of a health camp organized by the UPRBSK team. During this camp, doctors identified Abuzar's critical condition and facilitated his referral to the **Child Heart Foundation (CHF)**. On June 28, 2024, Abuzar underwent an echo screening at CHF, which confirmed a large malaligned peri membranous VSD a nd the need for urgent TOF repair surgery.
The estimated cost for Abuzar’s surgery was approximately ₹3.75 lakhs—an amount far beyond the means of his family. As the sole breadwinner, Abuzar's father, a daily wage earner, supports five dependents on a meagre income.
Understanding their plight, Abuzar was enrolled in CHF’s Hridaan Program for financial assistance, reflecting his family's earnest desire to see him healthy and educated like other children.
On July 25, 2024, Abuzar was admitted for the critical TOF repair surgery, marking a significant step toward reclaiming his health. The procedure was a success, and he was discharged on July 30, 2024. His journey toward recovery had begun, filled with hope and possibilities.
Today, Abuzar’s parents are filled with gratitude towards the CHF team and the generous donors who made this life-changing journey possible. They now hold onto the dream of seeing their son healthy and thriving, free from the burdens of heart disease.
