A 10 year old boy wasib from Uttar Pradesh was suffering from CHD since her one year of age. Initially it was unnoticed and no intervention took place. Later, they observed bluish discoloration of lips and nails along with breathing problems. This concerned them and they went to a local doctor for medical help. But there was no proper clarification to the root cause of the problem. So, they travelled to Muradabad to find the answers. Upon reaching the hospital, they met with the doctors who recommended echocardiography for Wasib. The result was clear that he has CHD. From there, the family was referred to GB Pant Hospital, where Wasib underwent two angiograms. While these procedures provided insight into his condition, they also revealed the complexity of his heart disease.
It was at GB Pant that Wasib’s family learned about the Child Heart Foundation (CHF) and Dr. Vikas Kohli, whose expertise offered them a glimmer of hope. Thorough tests and evaluations revealed that Wasib’s condition required a Glenn procedure. On 2nd of Jan 2025, the surgery took place at IAH and it was a successful one. The child is gradually improving with every passing day.
