At just 1 year, 2 months, and 27 days old, little Alshifa from Burari, East Delhi, faced a battle that no child should have to endure. Diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with an Anomalous Coronary Artery Origin, her tiny heart struggled with a defect that restricted proper blood flow, causing her lips and fingers to turn blue—an alarming sign that her heart wasn’t receiving enough oxygen. Her parents watched helplessly as her condition worsened, especially when she cried.
With her father working hard to provide for the family, the cost of life-saving surgery seemed an impossible burden. But hope arrived when Mankind Pharma’s CSR initiative stepped in to support Alshifa’s treatment, ensuring that financial constraints would not stand in the way of her survival.
On January 29, 2025, Alshifa was admitted under the expert care of Dr. Vikas Kohli, a renowned pediatric cardiologist at Child Heart Foundation. The very next day, on January 30, 2025, a team of highly skilled surgeons performed a Left BT Shunt procedure (connecting the left subclavian artery to the pulmonary artery) with RPA Plasty to improve blood flow to her lungs.
The surgery was a success! After careful postoperative monitoring, Alshifa was discharged on February 4, 2025, her tiny heart now working stronger than ever.
Her parents, once gripped with fear, now hold her close with renewed hope and gratitude. They credit Mankind Pharma’s CSR support along with the CHF for giving their daughter a second chance at life.
Alshifa’s journey is a testament to how compassion, medical expertise, and timely support can transform lives. Today, she is on the road to recovery, a little fighter whose story will inspire countless others facing similar battles.
