Pt. Rubi

Rubi was born through a normal vaginal delivery at a Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Agra. She remained apparently healthy and active during the first two years of her life, with no major health concerns reported by her parents.

At the age of two, Rubi began experiencing frequent episodes of fever associated with pneumonia. Initially, her parents consulted a local doctor who provided medication for symptomatic relief. However, as her condition persisted, Rubi was admitted to Borah Hospital for three days. During this hospital stay, the attending doctor suspected a congenital heart disease (CHD). An echocardiogram (Echo) was performed, confirming the diagnosis of CHD.

For the next three years, Rubi’s condition was managed with regular follow-ups and medication. As she grew older, she started developing noticeable symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and bluish discoloration (cyanosis). Concerned about her deteriorating condition, her parents consulted another doctor, who referred the case to Aligarh for further evaluation. After detailed checkups, a date for surgery was given but later postponed, and Rubi was referred to AIIMS, Delhi for advanced cardiac care.

At AIIMS, another echocardiogram was performed, confirming the same diagnosis. Subsequently, Rubi was taken to Saliya Sai Hospital, Palwal, where similar findings were observed. She was taken back home for rest and further observation.

Later, Rubi suffered an episode of unconsciousness and was admitted to a hospital for nine days. After discharge, the family sought private treatment in Jaipur, where Rubi was reported to be in congestive heart failure (CHF). She responded temporarily to medical management and remained stable for about three months.

In 2025, Rubi’s case was again referred through the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) program for further evaluation and specialized treatment of her congenital heart disease.
