From an early age, Veer suffered from frequent episodes of pneumonia that led to repeated hospitalizations at AIIMS. Every time he fell sick, his parents hoped for answers, but instead, they found themselves trapped in a cycle of hospital visits, medications, and worry.
When Veer was just 2 years old, an echocardiogram revealed that he had a Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). While doctors initially reassured the family that surgery might not be necessary and that the condition could improve with time and medication, Veer's health continued to struggle.
The pneumonia kept returning.
The hospital visits continued.
And so did the anxiety of his parents, who watched helplessly as their son battled illness throughout his childhood.
After nearly three years of uncertainty, the family sought another opinion. They consulted paediatrician Dr. Arun Wadhwa, who referred Veer to renowned paediatric cardiologist Dr. Vikas Kohli for a comprehensive evaluation.
On 12th April 2025, a fresh echocardiography assessment finally provided clarity. Veer was diagnosed with a Moderate Perimembranous Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), a congenital heart defect that required surgical closure.
While the diagnosis brought answers, it also brought another challenge.
The surgery was estimated to cost ₹3.5 lakhs—an amount far beyond what Veer's family could afford.
Veer's father, a driver and the sole earning member of the family, was already supporting three dependents. The thought of arranging such a large amount for his son's treatment felt overwhelming.
But no parent should have to choose between their child's health and financial hardship.
Recognizing both the urgency of Veer's condition and the family's financial constraints, he was enrolled under Child Heart Foundation's Hridaan Program for treatment support.
With the generous support of Child Heart Foundation and ABB, Veer received the life-saving care he urgently needed.
On 15th May 2025, Veer successfully underwent heart surgery.
For his family, it was a day filled with prayers, hope, and courage.
Today, Veer is recovering well and growing stronger every day. The child who spent years battling illness now has the chance to enjoy a healthier future, free from the constant fear that once overshadowed his childhood.
His story is a reminder that timely diagnosis, expert medical care, and compassionate support can transform a child's life.
At Child Heart Foundation, we remain committed to ensuring that children like Veer receive the treatment they need, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Because every child deserves a healthy heart and a brighter tomorrow.
